National Highways SCI, Phase 2
Get designed into tomorrow's motorway forecourt before it is built

Subject: Market engagement response: SCI scheme, ref 091618-2026
Dear Procurement team, Re: Strategic Charging Infrastructure Scheme, procurement ref 091618-2026 (OCID ocds-h6vhtk-06d975), Phase 2 market engagement. AiR develops automated four-tyre readiness infrastructure for forecourts and charging hubs. We are not seeking any part of the subsidised grid capacity. Our feedback on packaging and delivery: where SCI works redesign a motorway service area, the site-design brief should allow operators to retain a small provision (footprint, low-power supply, comms duct and vehicle-flow clearance) for vehicle-readiness equipment beside the charging estate. Adding this during enabling civils avoids later rework and disruption on live sites. A one-page site integration specification is attached. We'd be glad to answer any questions before 30 October. Kind regards, Alexander Macdonald Founder, AiR

Subject: Roadchef SCI sites: reserve space for AiR before the layouts are fixed
Hi Tim, The National Highways SCI programme is now in Phase 2 market engagement, with a tender expected on 1 February 2027. Selected Roadchef sites are likely to see new grid, civils and charging layouts. Before those designs are fixed, I'd like to reserve the small amount of space, power and comms needed for AiR: automated four-tyre readiness infrastructure that sits beside the new charging estate. Adding it now costs a line in the brief. Retrofitting later costs a redesign. The ask is one sentence in your site-design brief: "Provision to be retained for future AiR automated tyre-readiness infrastructure." No purchase order, no commitment on the machine. The attached one-page specification shows the footprint, power, comms and vehicle flow. Worth 20 minutes before 30 October? Kind regards, Alexander Macdonald Founder, AiR
